2006 (Torquay) - Kevin is crowned

Kevin had already been Tour runner-up in 2003 and 2005 so there was no real surprise when he picked up the 2006 title.

The Tour was based in Torquay and the courses played were Exeter, Dainton Park and Isle of Wedmore. There was a change to the format this year and it was three rounds, all counting towards the total.

Sadly no scoring or handicap records survive from the event. Which is slightly ironic as Kevin is the Tour's recognised scorekeeper. Still he wasn't to know that we'd do this six years later. We could all get an A Level in hindsight.

I think he played a bit of a blinder at Wedmore on the Sunday and would have stormed through to the title even if Ben hadn't been hungover. I could be wrong.

We do at least know the finishing positions:

1 - Kevin
2 - Ben W
3 - Matthew
4 - Simon
5 - James
6 - Brian
7 - Paul

Perhaps the most memorable part of the Tour was our hotelier. It was like something out of a sitcom where he'd be there to check you in, you'd walk through to the bar, and he'd somehow be there waiting to serve you. He seemed to be the only person who worked there. Perhaps he had a twin brother. He did a decent breakfast mind. I can't remember the name of the place to see if it's still there.

If you have an old copy of the scores or know anything more about the 2006 Tour let me know.
