Ben W became the first person to get his name of the coveted Tour trophy three times after victory in the 2008 event.
Reduced to two rounds and played more locally than usual, work and holiday commitments reduced this to a small, but very select, field of four.
The first round was at Burford and just three points separated the players. Kevin, looking for three wins in a row, led on 30 points. Ben W and Brian (twice third in the Tour) were a single point behind while Mark (the 2004 winner) was a further two points back.
The title would be decided at Minchinhampton (Cherington) and like in 2004 the scoring was on the high side. Mark's chance of a second win went even though he scored 33 points and Kevin opened the door for his rivals when achieving the same score.
Brian beat his 16 handicap with 37 points but even that was not enough to stop Ben W claiming his third title after a round of 39 points (off 10).
Final scores:
Ben W - 29, 39 = 68
Brian - 29, 37 = 66
Kevin - 30, 33 = 63
Mark - 27, 33 = 60
