The Rolls of Monmouth - "one of the most outstanding golf courses in the whole of the UK"

The Saturday course in 2004 was The Rolls of Monmouth,  the second and last time we played the same course twice in one day.

The championship course is 6,733 yards and is designed in two halves which are separated by a large wooded hill area (it says on the website - I can't remember).

It was a grey, wet day in the main which is perhaps why I'm not able to confirm the claims made in the title of this piece. I can remember the long par 3 18th as I fluked nearest the pin with my three wood to three feet (and then missed the putt of course). The other thing I remember continues to scar me.

The sight of Stuart crouching behind an umbrella applying vaseline to his back door in an attempt to prevent chafing is something no man should see. Mark and I probably have post-traumatic stress disorder. Enough of that - to the best scores...

40 points - Mark (off 13)
34 points - Simon (off 15)
31 points - Kevin (off 16)
31 points - Simon (off 15)
30 points - Brian (off 22)
30 points - Kevin (off 16)

If you have anything to say (preferably not about Stuart's foray into the trees behind an umbrella) then head to the comments link or email Paul.
