The 2009 Tour had its second and final round at The Belfry's PGA National. Kevin held off Simon to make it three Tour wins in four years here and I've certainly got fonder memories of this one, maybe because I think the weather was nicer that day!
It has "an inland links appearance" according to the website, I didn't get that feeling I must confess but I certainly enjoyed it.
There's much more going on here than The Derby so I'm surprised that three out of the five of us improved our scores. Plenty of water, either in ponds, or brooks cutting across the fairways, an interesting mound in the 16th fairway and the occasional dogleg a bigger hitter can take on. Good fun!
The 148 yard par three 15th was our 'nearest the pin' hole (which should have been renamed 'nearest the green'!) and the 18th, back to the clubhouse, was our longest drive challenge.
Best scores:
32 points - Simon (off 22)
31 points - Kevin (off 9)
26 points - Paul (off 33)
Have a look at the course guide and let me know any of your thoughts.
